Spring Wishing Wallpaper Length!

Printing the final piece for my Minor Project!

I began with a multi coloured background to add depth and texture before adding a layer of cream paint so only glimpses of colour could be seen.

I then began printing my length after lining the screen up to my koda-trace.
I decided to change the colours of various prints to add more variety to my length.

Once all of my screens had been printed I worked back into my length by adding foiled pieces and acrylic transferred CAD placement prints.

Once this process is complete I intend to draw detail into my length by hand to enhance the print even more. As you can see i have already began on the watering can.

Very excited for the end result!

Print room fun!

Mixing up my colours for printing! Sticking to my pastel colour pallete brief.

I've never used seven screens before so i'm very excited to see the way my colour separations print into my pattern!

First three screens...

five screens...

My first seven colour-way hand screen printed design! I'm really pleased with the way it turned out, i can't wait to start my length!

But first... a little more experimentation!

Foiling and puff binder on handmade paper...

Coordinating final A1 hand painted designs...

complete with foiling on top...

Second coordinated design...
Acrylic paint surface transfer of CAD patterned images.

I really enjoyed using this technique as it gave a much more rustic effect in comparison to getting a complete printed off CAD A1 repeat.

Designs coming together...

After producing a range of layouts I thought I would update you all on how I'm getting along with my latest final designs for Spring Wishing.

Below is the design i'm working on to produce a length.

I'm drawing various sections in different coloured pens to distinguish the colour-ways for my final print to transfer onto koda-traces.

Slowly but surely...

After completeing my colour seperations i have decided on making a printed pattern with six colour-ways.

I'm in the process of coating and exposing my screens to print with! Very exciting!!!

I can't wait to get in that print room!

NEW YORK NEW YORK...

In May I was lucky enough to go to New York City to exhibit with my college in Surtex 2013! I have been so excited to blog about the amazing experiences I had when I was there!

My work was chosen to be displayed in the Cleveland College of Art and Design bay at Surtex where myself and many of my fellow students had the opportunity to talk to many designers, buyers, company owners and executives. It was great experience to be conversing with others in the industry and having so many people with similar interests and ambitions to talk to... made a few contacts too!

New York was such a fantastic experience I'll look forward to going back very soon!

Second Year at CCAD!!!

I've been very busy since the last time I posted... about a year and a half ago now...and a lot has changed!  I moved to Cleveland College of Art and Design last summer to complete my degree in Textiles and Surface Design, and have learned so much and many fantastic opportunities have opened up for me!

Firstly, I have decided to peruse designing for interiors after trying my hand at all market areas including fashion, interiors and gift. This was after completing three 8 week projects on each, allowing me to fully understand the design process for each specialism.

Secondly, for the interiors project we had the amazing opportunity to worked with the well renowned trend forecasting company: Trend Bible and my work was selected to be featured in their Autumn/ Winter 2014/15 trend forecasting book! Trend Bible's books are sent globally to many brands, twice a year. This was very exciting and I was delighted to have been featured within the book.

Finally, my last project for second year (individual options) lead to the production of my first ever wallpaper length!

For my Individual Options project my theme was 'Clash'. I explored clashing many unusual objects, colours and techniques together. The inspiration for this project mainly came from my visit to Las Vegas, where i saw many themes and bizarre objects thrown together to make something eye catching.
This Ostrich ornament is the perfect example of the weird and wonderful objects I am talking about.

.This is my mood board and sketchbook page of inspiration for 'Clash'.
